Hambantota Sri Lanka

Despite being one of the great victims of the bloody tsunami of Southeast Asia in 2004, today Hambantota resurfaces as one of the main administrative and cultural benchmarks of southern Sri Lanka. Thanks to the presence of the Kingdom of Ruhuna in the 2nd century.C., Hambantota became an important colony for merchants from China, Siam and Indonesia. Today, this town famous for cricket lovers thanks to Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, displays a gallery of attractions as interesting as the nearby Bundala National Park (in addition to the aforementioned Yala), a port that oozes costumbrismo and color; Mirijjawila Botanical Gardens, its palm-macerated marsh safaris, or old colonial-style mansions. The best cultural sigh between beach and beach on the south coast of Sri Lanka.
