Trikala, Thessaly Greece

Trikala is a city in northwestern Thessaly, Greece, and the capital of the regional unit of Trikala. The city straddles the Lithaios River. Trikala is a lively Greek city with picturesque monuments and old quarters with traditional architecture. The town is close to Meteora and also to the southern mountain range of Pindus, where there are many destinations of interest. As main tourist places we have the archaeological site of Asklepieion de Trikke, which is the most significant and oldest in Greece; the Byzantine castle, the Osman Shah mosque, the old town of Trikala, the hill of Prophitis Ilias or the Matsopoulos Mill, among others.
