The Adriatic and the mountains are closer than you might expect.
Albania often begins in Tirana, a lively, colourful and surprisingly energetic city from which the road opens towards the coast or the country’s interior in almost every direction. Further south, Vlorë marks the meeting point of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, while the road over Llogara Pass descends dramatically towards Himarë, Dhërmi and Qeparo, between mountains, stone villages and bays of remarkably clear water.

Further along, Sarandë and Ksamil bring the rhythm of an Ionian summer, while the ancient site of Butrint replaces the beach with history for a few hours. Inland, Albania looks completely different: Berat and Gjirokastër preserve historic towns and Ottoman architecture, while in the north the Albanian Alps, Theth and Valbona open onto trails, valleys and mountain landscapes that seem to belong to another journey altogether.
You come for the beaches of the Albanian Riviera, hidden bays and the sea, food, historic towns, nature, hiking, adventure or a road trip.
