For many travellers, the Dominican Republic begins in Punta Cana and Bávaro, where long beaches, palm trees and Caribbean waters create the classic image of a tropical holiday. Further southeast, Bayahibe and Dominicus change the scenery and open the way towards Saona Island, with lagoons, mangroves and clear waters, while La Romana offers another starting point for exploring this side of the island.

Beyond the resorts, however, there is a much larger country to discover. Santo Domingo preserves one of the Caribbean’s essential historical stories in its Colonial Zone, while the Samaná Peninsula, with Las Terrenas and Las Galeras, brings quieter beaches, tropical vegetation and waterfalls. Further north, Puerto Plata and Cabarete introduce the Atlantic, water sports and a completely different rhythm from Punta Cana.
You come for tropical beaches and the sea, snorkelling and diving, nature, gastronomy, wellness, golf, adventure or Caribbean culture.
